Building the Center of Hope

Dear Friends and Partners

Greetings to you all from Missungwi Tanzania and The Center of Hope, I have much to share about our 2010 mission trip and the progress that has taken place at our orphanage, secondary school, Bible school and Training center.

This year’s pastor’s conference was held in Mwanza city due to the lack of a facility in Missungwi. The conference was attended by fewer Pastors/leaders allowing us quality time with all who attended answering questions, listening to testimonies, and supplying much needed clothing, bibles, eye glasses and bicycles. It seemed to rain every day and the weather along with two vehicles breaking down hindered our mission to Kwekuba where we were to baptize 150 people who received Jesus Christ as their Savior at last years services. We did have a chance to minister in a village called Masoma and climbed a steep hill to speak at a small church in Mwanza where we were greatly encourage by the membership.

Arriving at the Center of Hope Orphanage we found all the children in good health, dressed well and happy to see us. The ladies ministered to the children and spent time playing, teaching, and enjoy the children. A field of corn and a field of potatoes have been planted along with eight orange trees that are producing oranges this year. The children have also planted there own garden to help out. The orphanage has a brood of chickens supplying eggs and meat for the children and two goats. Next year the orphanage will have its own store selling produce and eggs to local people and earning money to keep them going.

The secondary school is nearing completion this year we installed windows and the internal walls are being plastered. Work left to complete prior to opening the school includes plastering the external walls, moving the fence, building a bathroom and painting the building internally and externally. The school will open next year for the children at the orphanage and will accept children from the local community.

Our Bible school is moving forward and has 121 application. I met with the director of the I.C.I program for Tanzania and he informed me that they are interested in working with us and supplying the courses for our students. Because the students have very little money they will work on our farm growing produce, tending the animals, and operating the store at the orphanage in return they will receive a certificate of ministry from the Center of Hope Bible College and be placed with a senior pastor in the community.

Bishop Mordikai is working with a church in Arizona and they have entertained coming to Tanzania to build The Center of Hope Training Center. As this is in the planning stage we will keep you updated on this exciting event.

Goals for the coming year: the opening of the Bible and secondary schools, continuing building the training center, and planning the 2011 mission’s trip.

A word of encouragement to our partners and friends, EGMI is pressing forward in the work God has called us to accomplish and all is going extremely well, but with out you this work would not be able to go forward. You are the source of our ministry and I appreciate each of you for your faithful support and prayers. I ask that you will link arms with us in the up and coming years.
